This is a jacketed, stainless-steel mixing vessel that was used for the preparation of either the water phase or the oil phase in the manufacture of creams. The lower part has two walls with a cavity in between and steam was passed through to heat the contents and this is why it is called “jacketed”.
There is a lid at the top that can be opened to load the materials and then closed again to protect them from the environment.
It has a mixer fitted at the top that works with compressed air. The blades rotate at high speed at the lower end of the basin for efficient mixing.
It is equipped with a valve outlet at the bottom so that the contents can be emptied.
