Checking of all packaging materials for correctness of information is crucial in the pharmaceutical industry and labels are no exception.
This is an early type of label checker where the roll of labels to be inspected would be placed on a horizontal roller on the right-hand side of the equipment and round the inspection zone on the left finally being wound on the right-hand side again so that it could be lifted out and taken to the labelling machine.
The rotating rollers were enclosed in a transparent cage for operator safety whilst allowing visual inspection of the inside in order for the operator to see early on if there was any problem with the winding process.
It used mirrors and lights to assist the reading of the printed text of the labels in order to ascertain that nothing was missing.
